Cloves are the aromatic flower buds of a tree in the family Myrtaceae, scientifically termed as Syzygium aromaticum. It is commercially harvested in India, Madagascar, Zanzibar, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. It is an important ingredient as a spice, which blends all across the North Indian cuisine, and is known as “Laung” in Hindi.
Use: Cloves may be used to give aromatic and flavour qualities to hot beverages, and is often combined with other ingredients, such as lemon and sugar.
